Less electricity consumption = less harmful CO2 emissions + lower energy costs
Did you know that electricity consumption:
- Is the cause, because of emissions from power stations of almost half of all energy-related greenhouse gas emissions in Germany?
- According to an extrapolation for the whole of Germany, power consumption by electrical equipment being kept on hold or in standby mode accounts for more than 14 billion kilowatt-hours per year? This represents almost exactly the output of two nuclear power stations.
What can we do about this?
- At home, by reducing idle power losses (standby currents drawn by TVs, satelite receivers, hi-fi systems, PCs, printers etc) we can save 6 TWh and 801 billion € per year. Per household this amounts to a saving of between 75 and 100 € per year.
- In industry, business and the services sector, by reducing idle power losses (standby currents drawn by IT and communications equipment - PCs, monitors, printers, copiers etc) we can save 4 TWh and 204 billion € per year.

The German government also states in its specific energy and climate-protection programmes that measures must be put in place to save energy wastage from idle equipment, on both ecological and economic grounds. To help contain the rising energy consumption, Bachmann offers a range of products with the potential for power saving. As a rule a payback time of between 1 and 2 years is possible for efficient devices.
